Automobile registration records, 1905-1917.

The "record of registration of automobile and other motor vehicles" was kept by the Secretary of State by the direction of Chapter 5437 of the Laws of 1905. Owners and operators of motor vehicles were required to file a brief description of their vehicles on blanks furnished by the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State then entered the information into a bound book and issued the owner or operator a certificate of registration. The information in the volume lists the date, registration number, style of the vehicle, horsepower, manufacturer's name, and owner's name and address.
